Sorry i have put this off cause well, you, the consumer wont see it right away. (read below) plus i wanted to really talk to the main guy at VP, Bruce. We talked a long time the other night and got some great info. Here is what i know (or anyone) for that matter right now. I dont care whats said on forums or wera boards (havent been on in weeks but can guess) this is RIGHT FROM VP's MOUTH!
*****from my post on the barf forum**** 4.4 in in the Cali Warehouses but doubt dist will be snatching up right away due to inventory of U4.2 still. 4.4 is the updated 4.2 It is same Oxy content and SPecific gravity and maps almost IDENTICAL to U4.2...so if you have a bike mapped/tuned to U4.2, 4.4 should be just pour and go. Its nice they have basically altered the RVP and made a bit less heat sensitive and also a little cleaner burning..price stayed the same. MR12 is out as well, at least in Cali. problem is the dist have to sell their MR9-11 first cause they dont want to get stuck with that, dont blame them. Basically MR9 is VP's best fuel, PERIOD! MR11 was an altered form of MR9 to meet AMA fuel spec rules and it made less HP than MR9 but was AMA legal. Club stuff, no one cares, so VP came back to producing the MR9 in 08' iirc. Now their thought process is "wtf why not make a bad ass fuel since no ama rules" and have taken their best, MR9 and tweaked it even more. The BEST thing is the 3 things i was not a huge fan of MR9, they fixed! It has VERY low octane @87engine and now closer to 90 which is better to help some bikes like SV's or R1's that are prone to detonation more than others. Also they increased the oxy content from about 2.8% to @4% (give or take) which is great too (yes you will have to change map for MR12 from MR9 or MR11) and lastly they again adjusted the RVP so its a bit less heat sensitive (the MR9 was VERY temp/heat sensitive!) and of course more "exotics" as Bruce from VP calls it...i love that..sounds like a great drink cocktail...oh and SAME PRICE as MR9 ($25/gal here at my shop in NW) U4.4 and MR12 ARE in Cali warehouses, but the dist may not be grabbing due to inventory, so burn up the 4.2 and MR9/11 and everyone will have soon. Ill post up some dyno charts of the back to back sometime next week once i get my 5's for testing but all the things they did are all things myself and im sure the other tuners wanted...bit better heat stability, little cleaner (less residue in ports/injectors) and more power while keeping price the same!

Do you think you will test it this week back to back against U4.2? I may try a can next weekend.

I ran u4.4 this weekend on my u4.2 map...seemed pretty good, but I am interested in what the dyno says.
BTW...the new fuel is clear instead of Blue. If you ran U4.2 at the end of last season and it was clear, then you were actually running the new U4.4. |
