Default Damper Service

Just a reminder to get your steering damper serviced, sometimes this is forgotten when getting your bike ready for the season. We can service, GPR, Scotts, Ohlins and stock dampers. Most of the time, your damper will get air in them, which can cause your damper to not work properly. This should be done at least once a season, some more than others. The Ohlins dampers are supposed to be serviced every 10 hours of use, according to the their service manual.

Their is a way to check your damper to see if it has air in it. You need to put your damper to full hard position, then grap your bars to see if you have any dead space by turning slowly to left to right. If you have a gap, then air is in the system and needs to bled or serviced if it hasn't been done in awhile.

I have a Ohlins damper in here that hasn't been serviced in 8 years, the oil is nasty and needs some new parts to make it new again. If this damper had been regulary serviced it would just need seals. The parts are almost as much as a new one, so he may just toss this one and buy new. This damper was half air and oil, not sure why he didn't notice it wasn't working right.

Anyways, just a heads up to get your dampers serviced for 2010, we can get them done quick. The season has begun, time to chop chop!

What damper are you running? Ohlins would be my guess.

We replace the shaft seals x2, and the foam seal, new oil, parts and labor is $80.
