After borrowing a starlane from Dylan Code I was able to get my hands on one via EDR... that thing is cool as shit!!

Top speed of 90mph, precise lap times and cool ass map of the track... and can call fubar on the kid saying... I hold it wide open through 10... sure you do kid that is why the bike slows down 5 mph :massmoon:

It is one of the second generation units. Wrapped a wire around the coil and have a shift light as well... very neat.

Cool, its great to hear someone is able to get the units to download laps well!

Did you have any problems getting the blue tooth communication to work? Or was it pretty much problem free?

I'm still pulling my hair out on mine with the blue tooth and no response to help from Starlane or Yoyodyne. :(

Mark, run it this weekend to get some data and give it to me at the end of the weekend and I'll see if I can get it figured out.

Please guys, keep us all in the loop on this since there are several of us scratching our heads. Seems the WERA guys are real happy with the Starlane but the pathway from capture to analysis for those of us in the Northwest is elusive.

Pat,

Let me take another look at your unit next time we're out at the track. Alot of the issues may be not the Starlane but the PC/Bluetooth chip that you're using. Not all are created equal.

Sounds good to me and I appreciate the offer. Since I'm down for a couple more weeks I'd be glad to just hand you the software and hardware for this coming week of track days and OMRRA. A little velcro on your bike and you're in business. Only thing missing would be the RPM input since you're not setup for that.

I'd bet Tommy B the Duece would be interested in being in on this also.
PM me when you're next out there & I'll try to bring some velcro :-) and thanks for the offer.

When I set mine up I encountered pairing problems and the PIN was worthless. So I just configured the COM port to be not secured and everything connected without any trouble. The thing is, I still have a secure connection because I registered the unit with my PC, which causes the timer to disregard any other computer. Now for a few trips around the block.

Well I fugged around a lot more with mine. Installed the software on a different computer and this time made it a secured connection using a pin of 0000 like this thread on the BARF forum suggests trying (it might be one of 3). Whadya know...it works now.

I can turn the unit off, unhook the blue tooth dongle, reconnect and download any session I want. Works actually purdy good on the track I ran 10 laps on around my neighborhood in the Avalanche!

I'm not sure if it was the new computer or using the security settings instead of no security settings, but its definetly working the way I'd expect it.

Maybe that'll help others! Ohh...and I did update the firmware to the newest version 1.17 on my Gen1 Starlane unit (I think the Gen2 units had a new firmware update today to 2.13) and also downloaded the newest software from the website too.
