I have this setup

Gsxr1000 K6
K7 rotors
R1 calipers
CL SBK pads new
lines (dual setup)
brembo 19*20

I feel that the brake I have to use 2 much presure to get the bike to stop.

I have tried to sand the pads, not much diference.

Then I rode my friends R1 2006 with galfer rotors and lines. Impresive.

What Im doing wrong in this brake setup.
I have to use 2 much presure and have no feel.

thanks

No experience with the Carbon Loraine (although Ive heard they are awesome), so to name a couple obvious things to check:
-system bled thoroughly
-condition of rotors prior to brake mods (any bead blasting or treatment of the rotors prior to installing/new pad brake-in?)
Im pretty sure that system with a brembo should kick major ass! Something is not in flux in the cosmic world of brakes and your gix!

when was the last time you cleaned and lubricated your calipers? dirty pistons can lead to many problems such as drag and feel. a good toothbrush, h2o and some diluted simple green followed by silicone lube or brake fluid on piston, work piston in and out then wipe excess off. bleed brakes after. rbf660

you supposed to take piston out? or just clean it when still in caliper?

Cleaned everything pistons, etc, sandpaper the pads, rotors.

The brake now is much improved and its getting better.

Going to try a brembo 16mm piston to get more feel, the 20*19 one gives no feel with this calipers.
With the stock calipers it had some travel, with this calipers is hard concrete.

you do not have to remove piston if there is no leaking around piston. you can move piston in and out by pumping brakes gently, a piece of card board folded to the thickness of the rotor should be used to stop the pistons from coming out of calipers. put cardboard in both calipers before starting and pump pistons out. always leave the cardboard in the caliper you are not working on!!!! bleed system after. if a piston comes out that 's ok just clean seals and piston and re-lube, piston needs to be lined up in caliper so go easy and it should slide in with out much force. bleed system for sure!!!

coachvino you should bleed your brakes with ATF better yet let me bleed your brakes

 ATF!? Thats a great idea! But what type, F or Dextron?! Should I use synthetic? Would it help if I flushed the system with water first!?

if you want to have less pressure at the lever, try a 19x18 youll get more "feel" out of the brakes. Also, use C44/55 pads from Carbonne Lorraine or even a set of Versrah SRJL. THe SKB is a street pad, great one, but not a race pad. the Vesrah will have much more bit, the CL C44/55 will have more linear feel

see my post above! Also, DO NOT throw a 18x16 on it..too small! thats for 600's maybe...but mostly little bike like 125 and 250GP

So far, the rotor clean, and pad clean made impresive results. The bike breaks like a champ.
I will try a R1 brembo mc that is a 16mm one. maybe it gets me more feel.
This one locks the brake at low speed 2 easy.
