Just have to take a moment to show off my new bodywork. After last seasons wreck they were pretty much fit for the garbage can. I spent all my money fixing the bike so I had to do the bodywork myself.
If I seam a little over excited about all this, please appreciate that I've spent the better part of 4 months locked in my garage repairing / stripping / painting this stuff. They turned out pretty nice but I swear I'll never do it again.
What do you think?

If youve never done bodywork, or paint Id say that was a complex first time! Looks real good either way, nice work!

Looks absolutely awesome! I know the feeling. I'm just doing a "small" repair on my track bike plastics. I'm just finishing up the painting. Do you got any tips on how to get that nice finish on it? Mine looks ok, but not that nice. Did you use a clearcoat? I bought a can today, but I haven't sprayed it on yet.

The clear coat gives it the "money" look, but be carefull because clear coat runs very easily. Be especially careful when spaying over stickers, it will run more easily there.
Thanks to all for all the positive feedback but of course I'm gauranteed to loose the front end on account of the nice bodywork. I've tried to appease the traction gods buy dropping large sums of cash in the KFG Dunlop offering plate. Let's hope it works!

Shouldn't that EDR logo be bigger? :)
Looks really good! Hopefully I can get mine to look that nice this month.

I think this is a rite of passage for racers. In my novice year, I got a set of pretty rashed plastics for my 2000 R1. Shouldn't be too big a deal to fix them up right? 2 months later, my garage is covered in fiberglass dust and overspray. The plastics turned out ok, but what an ordeal. I too said "Never again!" Your's looks great!

Those images will go with you to the grave I'm sure. Long after the bodywork is gone those pictures will remind you ... never again.... never again. The bike looked great though and that could figure in a lot as I hear WMRRA has a Front Row Beauty Pagent going on this season (check thread in WMRRA forum).

I think Eric wants to wait and see how I actually perform before he lets me go with larger stickers. Retarded by association is hard to come back from. :47:

I know how you feel. I did it myself last year. I spent entirely too much time doing bodywork then priming, sanding, wet sanding, shooting color, wet sanding, shooting graphics and number plates, wet sanding some more, shooting clear, wet sanding yet again, and, finally, polishing. It came out good, though and looked like the 954RR that HRC never made. I spent too much energy on it for a race bike and I did pay for it the last race weekend when I got spit off in turn 7 at PIR. I'll never spend that much time on race bodywork again.

Since we are putting up all of our hard work...here is mine. Just put the glass on the bike tonight. Shannon and I have been working our asses off after work evenings trying to get coat after coat on. Then came the tedious task of making templates of the inlets to lay up the red vinyl. Finally getting the pinstriping on. Its very basic and I dont have the wheels cleaned up yet or the red fender on yet but I have never done this before and feel pretty good about it so far. Don't have the numbers or sponsor logos back from the graphics guy yet but should be on by the end of the week. Putting the new rotors and pads on soon and i'm good to go! Laugh away!
