So long story short the front sprocket nut came loose and the front sprocket spun on the threads does anyone know how I can re-spline the countershaft without removing it from the motor? If I remove it from the motor I will just buy a new one because they are 80 dollars so it woudn't be worth it.

Sounds like your dropping a motor out? I've never heard of a portable spline machine? Buy the new onw for $80. Ca-chow!

Well you can buy them and they fit into a socket and as you tighten or loosen them (whichever way it is) it cuts the new threads... I think you have to order them so I was just seeing if anyone has any knowledge about them.... but you are right I will probably just order one :)

Anton, if you are talking about cutting new threads into the shaft (assuming the old ones are totally or nearly all gone) the shaft will likely have to be machined to a smaller diameter to achieve a new (and smaller thread pattern). You cant retain the same thread size if the original threads are toast! If the threads are just a bit banged up or deformed, you could try running a dye of the appropriate thread pitch and size onto the shaft to clean-up the old threads. Either way, this could easily end up costing more than that shaft is worth. Im thinking you will probably have to drop the motor... maybe post a pic of the damage?

I found one for free from a guy in Seattle today.... so I guess that solves half the problem.... now to drop the motor ughhhhhhhhhh. I tried to take pictures but they didn't come out that great but I think the threads are gone after looking at it today.
