Anyone ever SEEN this done before? I have heard of a 1000cc engine swapped for a 750, but never have seen what all it will take. Any thoughts?

Yes, it'll work, but the front mount won't line up properly so you'll have come up with something for that. What year 750 frame? The street racing guys back east do it all the time. I've heard that it won't work on the new bikes though. I bet goldenchild (Daniel) at Cloud 9 in Boring can hook you up. 888-959-FAST

Justin it will work, but you have to have someone really good with a welder make a new mount. My suggestion would be to save that extra money and effort. Put it back together with a good full exhaust, maybe have Eric port the head and at minimum degree the cams and it will be considerably stronger than what you had.

I'm pretty sure they do but I don't know who's making them, that why I recommended he call Daniel @ Cloud 9 since he talks to those guys on a regular basis.

No wreck, thank god. Not exactly sure what went wrong, motor runs, but is knocking. E thinks I threw some crank bearings...valves weren't bad, good compression, they did find some shrapnel (sp?)...but I'm not sure I want to pay to see all the damage, then pay more to replace parts, labor, etc...I would probably want to port the head too...
So, here's the dilema: I will be doing several trackdays this season, so I would like a track bike and a newer street bike (and a dirt bike, but that's going to have to take a back seat for a bit now). I have a pretty limited amount to work with until I sell my house. Definitely enough to track prep the 750. If I went that route, my bike wouldn't be done until the end of April probably. But it would be done right and I could feel confident taking it to the track. If I pick up a motor with unknown condition, anything could happen. I wonder how much I could get for it in current condition...hmmm...too many scenarios...need some opinions...

here's a thread on gixxer.com that talks a lot about motor swaps from 600/750 to 1000, the initial post is regarding an srad but there is other info in it as well.
sucks about the motor dude :/
you could PM stuntmoto at sportbike.ws when it's back up. he's hooked up people with 750 motors before. hell the one he got in a friend of mine's bike was almost as strong as my tired old ss'd 750.

Thanks shag! He's a wealth of knowledge that guy.
So, let me ask you experienced trackwhores a question...If you had a 02 750 w/ braided lines, vesrah pads, pcIII, slip on, 520 kit w/-1 in front, & street plastic that has 21k mi all street...and you know there is some major issues with the bttm end...you need a solid track bike, now keeping moeny and time in mind, would you:
A) have EDR rebuilt motor, port heads (install full system if $ allows) and get race plastic like Luke said
B) Search like a mother fucker for a good used engine, EDR install, pipe, and plastic and call it good
C) Install used engine, wash bike, sell bike, buy already track prepped bike
D) Try to sell as is and buy already track prepped bike
E) insert your idea here

number C all the way. Track prepping a bike is expensive. There are some cheap track bikes out there right now.

I would have to agree.

Most likely C. But to pry a little bit, there is an important factor missing. What, for sure is your budget. The most you can/will spend right now. Total dollars no matter what route you try to go.

Shit I can't say that!!! you know eric is reading this! Haha...
No, I don't know man... I got my tax return to play with here...but I also have an empty stable I need to fill. So I would like to keep it as inexpensive as possible without risking safety or a decent amount of performance on the track bike so that I can put the rest towards street and dirt.
I can't say an exact budget right now because there is too many factors. Hope that helps...haha
