I rode my new bike yesterday for the first time.. I know it only has a few miles on it but damn, the front brakes are hard but they just don't stop?
Like they are coated with something? I really don't wanna take it all apart and glassbead the rotors and all that yet, do they take awhile to seat? All my other new bikes the brakes were good on the first day? 2008 r1

jason the pads on the new 6pot radials are VERY bad..many guys complained about that...we have both the Carbone Lorraine SBK5 (street/trackday) pads, CL C-44 (race use) pads AND the Vesrah SRJL's in stock for the bike...

just be prepared for price. that bike with its funky 1 small pad/1 large pad per side caliper is the most $$ pad made for any motorcycle....the CL is i recall are not bad, but the Vesrah's are...gulp like $180/side...no typo. (luckily you'd get almost a year out of a set, if not two sets for sure)

Seriously, they hardly stop, and are dangerous! Feels like something is wrong with em.

have you tried taking some brake cleaner and one of those green scrubbing pads to the rotors? Might help, could have a nasty coating

I'll try the easy stuff first... But I can't believe they would let a bike go out the door like that? I just about ran out into the intersection! It's that bad!
If nothing works I guess i'll be doing brakes sooner than I thought. Glass bead the rotors and some Vesrahs, lines also I guess. Geeeez. I wanted gearing, exhause, PC, lots of stuff before brakes because I figured they would be pretty good out of the box. :90:

I guess they just had to bed in more.. Took quite a few miles. They feel pretty good now, not like the old race bike brakes though!

they aren't $400...it was $360 ;) for SuperRJL-xx and only $200 for the CL SBK5 or C44 pads.

You should have seen the crackasaurus in the shop today, I got you good Butters! Lost weight so pants don't fit, I think I could carry the old school 205/70/16.5 rear tire in there and deliver it to Dorn in his pit.
