Haha they aren't THAT ugly :)

I've only seen Traxxion being mentioned as the only brand making them. They are also going to be required for WERA in '08. I'm pretty sure OMRRA hasn't said anything yet. But after personally seeing a couple R6's going up in flames last season I'd say its not a bad investment for a couple ugly sliders.

Thanks Nico.

True... and they are way better looking than these!

I bought the eti as they will protect more of the tank. They look like they are well made. I do not know about the ugly part yet, we will see soon.

I put on a set of the Traxxion tank sliders yesterday. Just getting the bike ready for the season. They are made of some pretty nice, thick plastic, and they are formed to a darn close fit to the contours of the bike. You have to move them around a bit to find the best fit. You have to remove the emblems from the tank, of course. They are stuck on with that foam padded sticky tape. It is supposed to be sticky enough to take the abuse of a slide and I don't doubt that, but I'm wondering if that tape will hold up to the wear and tear of a whole season of racing that I know some of you will do. I was wondering if that tape doesn't stay on, if some type of silicone glue might work. I thought I saw something like that where I work. Really squish it in the slider and C-clamp it on till it dried. Just free thinking, here, Eric would probably have some good ideas, IF this even becomes a problem. Ok, just adding my penny or two. Good luck to you racers. Be safe,... and fast. Well, fast...and as safe as you can be....;)

Chris Peris ran the traxxion set all last year without issue (coming off) even in the crash in the corkscrew. Even with them being know for motorcycle suspension (http://www.traxxion.com) the traxxion stuff apparently held up great.

I am going with Traxxion. They are smaller and don't seem like they will need a bunch of new painting and they velcro on. I guess I prefer this over covering the entire side of the tank and having all kinds of water, dirt, sweat etc getting in between. I'd rather damage my paint with commercial strength adhesive to hold the velcro. Plus, it is a smaller footprint. I don't think I'll paint the sliders either as they are black. I'd prefer to promise to never crash so I didn't have to use anything but don't know if I could keep that promise.

I think it is a stupid rule! I cant count how many r6's I saw last year go down and never even touched the tank in the crash, and let alone burst into flames! I only read about two r6's catching fire in a crash. Just like frame sliders, only good if you crash on pavement...once you hit the dirt your fucking bike catches the slider and flips it and than it bends your frame where the slider attached! Stupid! I only run sliders becouse a few clubs I race with require them and now I have to run these dumb assed tank sliders for the same reason! WTF?

sam almost EVERY 06-07 R6 will hit the tank..trust me. as for 2008 its fixed...much less protrusion so shouldnt need them. as for 3m tape..that shit is strong!

I bought a 08 tank and it has not been changed! It still sticks out the same as the 06-07! It is the same tank,it just does'nt have a body line in it like the 07. It still sticks out past the frame........I sent it back to Yamaha and got sliders instead. Don't quite understand why the 08 tank is supposed to be better than the 07???

My understanding. The problem with the tanks is not grinding through it was actually that the radius on the sides was so sharp that on impact the tank was splitting down the radius. The new tank does stick out approximately the same distance from the frame but the radius is opened up. Thats just what I heard.

yeah the 06 tank has a very sharp lip that is pretty stiff laterally and grinds through, or splits, rather than denting. the 08 looks like it will dent on impact rather than maintaining shape and grinding through. Traxxion supposely is working on 08 sliders, not sure when these will be available.

Hey Vederico how much was the oem 08 tank from Yamaha?

Shit,I don't remember how much the tank was(I charged it on my account) but I think it was around $250.00 if I remember right. It fit right on my bike,it just stuck out the exact same and looked like I would need sliders for it also! Yamaha parts are super cheapo!! I decided to buy the retarded traxion sliders instead for a assramming $120.00!!! Quite a bargain considering they are made of pure gold with platinum emblems! And I bought them 2 weeks ago and still have yet to see the sliders!!
