View Full Version : 2003 cb 919 parts questions
Bought a wrecked 919 and looking to make it into a street fighter.
What kind of forks would fit this front end??? The OEM mines are bent and also seem weak with small brakes.
I'd love to install some cbr1k front end. Is that possible?
Will a different wheel fit on this bike? Like a rear cbr1k wheel?
EDWho: do you have any edr case covers for this bucket?
The factory one is cracked. I'm going to install a stator tomorrow and see if it fires to make sure the crank aint bent. Got any advice on what I should look for when doing that so I dont make it worse??
TIA
Ill post pics now.

Sorry bout the messy garage.
Speedo is broke and dont know the miles but I assume its way way low miles since it has oem tires with huge burn out chicken strip.
I got a box of parts with it. all bought off ebay. Gonna go thru it tomorrow and see what I got to work with.

Yes we do actually have covers for them!
As for 919 other stuff pm Roktbox. He breathes these things!!
RIGHT on! I think I have done business with him before. I'll get a hold of him asap. THANKS!
Saw a tricked out 919 on CL with an RC51 front end. If I remember correctly, it also had an RC51 rear wheel.

There's wealth of knowledge on one of the boards that most of the 919 community has gravitated to. PM and and I'll send you the link.
Suspension - Really very rideable stock (even without adjustablity in front), but if you're bent on building it you can go basic or pretty over the top. Doubtful there are any Ohlins units left unless through a private sale, but Penske has one that has been well reviewed. Can go pretty Ebay cheap with a used 600F3 unit (i think). The height remains pretty close to stock and you get adjustability while keeping the spring rate fairly close.
600F4i forks are bolt on and you can keep the stock calipers, but need a fender. Barry can build these for you or just replace the fluid. An RC51 front end will fit with some stem bearing modifications. VFR swingarms have been fit up with modification to maintain the proper offsets
954 calipers fit front and rear (whole brake system fits). 929 clutch lever and perch fit. '98 900RR wheels fit front and back (I think?). '97 900RR rotors fit. 600F3 wheels fit with the 919 axles.
Speedo - I've seen some cool aftermarket stuff, but it's a lot of work. Newer 599 headlight fits in the stock bracket. Buell twin headlights fit and are cheap. Buell flyscreen fits.
Renthal Ultra-Lows or MX bars in 7/8, unless you change the triple for fat bars. I still have 1 1/8" bars with adapters, too.
Exhaust - After riding many miles on louder cans I was happy to go back to stock. For $$$$ and 2-3 hp the money should have been spent elsewhere. You can de-baffle the stock cans, paint the shields, whatever. 929 header fits if you want to go to a single sided set up.
In the end the frame will still flex like hell when you whip it and it will headshake a bit. But, like all things Honda, it's stable no matter what you do to it. Don't ask me why, but I miss mine.

WOW! You do know all things 919!
Thanks for the info.
Ill pm you and get that site.
My first mission is to put the stator back on and get it running. THEN....Im going to pull all the broken parts and see what I need, make a list, and start subing what I can with bigger better parts.
Thanks again for all the info. The rc 51 idea sounds really nice.
