I'm not convinced. :)
I heard Dunnies were going for $485/set @ Fontana. Is that the new NTechs?

i bet they were! When i sold Dunlops in even 2005 we were $360/set...but cali it was like $405/set....they are spendy down there (yet still OWN the afm, wsmc, wera, etc clubs...strange) So with the US $$ worth about as much as free intel stock right now and the cost of shipping gone thru roof (gas/crude oil) EVERYTHING will be higher! I bet dunlops here in NW will be $360-380/set....again total guess....but folks...they were $350/set back in 1999!!! Shit goes UP!!!! What was a new R6 in 1999? $6,499....now they are $9,000 or about 25% increase!!! Fuel was what $2.25/gal....now about $3/gal..again about 25%....so in theory for a tire to go up 20-25% would not be out of line folks...that would mean they "could" cost as much as $445/set and still be in line with other disposable products in past 9 years..
wake up guys....EVERYTHING has gone up 10-30% since 1999....tires have gone up (edr $350/1999...kfg $365/2007) a whopping 4.3%
I WILL say too that i feel bad for barry..its no ones fault, but he makes SO LITTLE $$ on the tires guys...you would honestly not believe me..i know cause i used to do it. Luckily he, like me beleives in the tires and loves helping guys out..but Nico, you watch!!! the pirellis are going up...they will be over $350/set...the dollar and shipping alone are mandating that!
i dont care...i love my
DUNLOPS!

I know shit goes up dude. I was just asking a question. I know Pirelli's are going up too. :)
Tire price isn't how I make my decision on what tires to run anyways. :p

I raced Utah and AFM (Cali.) last year and the prices were the same as KFG's for Dunlops.Willow spring straight up rapes you on prices so buy from Barry before you go!!! Prices are too high!!!!Just wierd how I can buy 4 high performance tires for my car for the same price as 2 motorcycle tires for my race bike....we all know tire companies inflate race tires cause the fuckers know we need em,just dont see why they need to "inflate" them any more, just a rip!

Now that's what I call yamahaulin'!!! (oh man, I am so funny!...). Eric's got a point, though. I just bought a set of tires for my geo tracker just last summer and they were 700 bucks from Les Schwab (no ripoff, it's a good dealership). Last year I had to buy a set of Michelin PP's because of that unfortunate strike at Dunlop last year. They were more expensive than a set of Qualifiers. I found them not very good for trackdays. I was missing my Q's by the second day. I use Q's my street bike and they are confidence inspiring! (Ok, once they are warmed up...) I've got a set of 208gp's this year and at least I will know that the front end will stick this time. And when I wear them out I'm moving up to the 209's or the 211's if Barry says ok. Tires are where the rubber meets the road, literally! It's what ever gives you the confidence to go fast. I'm not going to say what tire you should use, that's up to you. All I want to say is that Dunlops are what works for me.

Honestly, I'm just afraid of the same story as last year with Dunlop running out of tires. That pissed me off SOOOOOOOOO much! I raced WERA @ Buttonwillow AND WMRRA @ Spokane with fucking takeoffs! Not Barry's fault at all. I have to give him HUGE props with helping me get decent takeoffs to race with. Its Dunlop's fault for not getting it done. I heard they also ran out AGAIN at Fontana this past WERA race on Sunday.... Seriously..... they need to get their shit together over there at the Dunlop factory!
*Rant over*

justin, last year dunlop had ONE Ntech machine...now they have THREE...PLUS no more Moto GP program (that was an ntech style tire) and no more British SB (again Ntech style) i think this year will be awesome!

Thats what I heard too. But then why did they run out again last weekend?
I really enjoyed the NTecs and LOVE Barry. But I don't know if I can do the new pricing (yet to be released to PNW but got confirmed on CA pricing) andit looks like the issue of supply hasn't been fixed just yet.

i think they had only a few of the NEW D211's...not sure..but that is BRAND freakin new and dunlop took most im sure to Laguna for the CBR1000RR press launch (they used the D211 GP for it) I personally think by the time WE race/need them we'll be fine..maybe barry can actually pipe up? As for pricing...im sure its going up..but everything except housing values and consumer confidence is rising!

apples and oranges sam! When i had my M3 and bought some "R" tires for trackdays/racing...they lasted all of 2,000 miles!!!! and were $350 A PIECE DUDE!
OEM car tires are NOT the same man..b.eing a mtn bike racer you should know the difference between oem shit and RACE MADE stuff!
Now go eat a donut and get a blumpkin :D

Its going to be a sad day if racers are forced to choose which tire brand we run becouse of one brand being cheaper than the other! I mean if for example pirellis are $425.00 a set and Michelins are $325.00 a set thats a big difference and could easily get alot of racers on the cheaper tires.

Honestly,I am on Dunlops becouse Eric from EDR convinced me back in 98 to run Dunlops. I always liked EDR service and stayed with Dunlops. When Belly from KFG took over Dunlops I decided to stay with Dunlops becouse of what he offers (with suspension knowledge and bike set up) and will run them in 08. If barry went to pirellis I would follow him and make the change. I believe that "all" racing tires are good enough to go fast on and win and its the people and service that make the decisions for me.

I'm a pretty loyal guy. Barry has taken care of me and really helped me out. I think he does and offers 1000% more than the "other" guys do. And on top of that, I really like the Dunlops. They work great for me and the NTEC's friggin rocked last year. That said, I would also follow Barry wherever he went. If he became a Michelin, or Pirelli dealer, then I would set my bike up for em, and learn to ride em.
