I am thinking of switching or at least trying the new GPA's this year. Can anyone on here or Barry supply good starting tire pressures? I thought I remembered hearing last year that the GPA rear need more pressure than the N-tec.
Also, what compounds are suggested? Any feedback on the newest stuff (D211 GPA)?

I ran the spec tires for a 16 lap solo last weekend at VIR. I ran the latest med spec D209 GPA rear and a soft front. I ran 21 HOT rear 33 HOT front. My initial impression was pretty good, but the rear went off after about 10 laps. I also got a lot more movement out of the rear even before it went off....more like a pirelli feel. I am guessing the carcass is softer than the N-tecs. I could probably have tuned this out some, but didn't take the time. I ran the exact same pressures and set-up as I used on the N-tecs. When I went back to the N-tecs, I was just over a second faster and they do not fall off like the GPAs.
I will be interested in running the D211 GPA when it becomes available. It is a completely different construction from the 209GPA and hopefully closer to the Ntecs.

guys all i will say is I BELIEVE IN THE US TIRE NOW!
I saw Lenny Hale and Cory Call BOTH RUNNING THEM all day friday and saturday! Cory raced on slicks but he practiced on the new SPEC tire and these guys are 10x faster than any of you (ok, not ALL of you) but they are two of the fastest Cali guys and they both said "Its really good...i mean like 95% of the Ntech" i was pretty shocked...but Lenny who is very low key even said 'yeah its not bad at all, once you get pressures set right" (he was on pirellis last year so dunlops new to him) Cory Call was in the 1:50 range on them in practice! (thats less than 2 secs from NEW slicks in full race pace!) and his were SHAGGED on his GSXR1000
Seriously guys, i know i was against them (just cause i LOVE the Ntech) but the word is the new spec tires are the shit!
NOW if only Barry/KFG could get some!!

I've been promised by a certain someone that they will be available after 4/1. I certainly hope so as I need to replace my front before the next round or I am going to give Eric and Jay a heart attack :massmoon:

Eric,
They were speaking of the new D211GPA...correct? What pressures did they end up using?
I am looking forward to trying a set.

I got a chance to run med/med in the new D211GP-A this weekend. I ran 34/22 HOT. I ran a 20 lap solo and 2 10 lap sprints on the rear and an additional sprint on the front, but I through an 200/55 7704 N-tec on for the last race.
This tire had about 8 laps on it and was about 1/2 second faster than the D211GP-As when fresh.
Track temp was only 82deg and air temp was 72deg.
I am anxious to try soft/soft.
