I just dropped Rossi off at the vet for the first of her two major TPLO(ACL) surgeries. The surgery is fairly safe but like any surgery, the risk is in the anethesia.

So let's have some good thoughts for her while she is under the knife and hope for a successful first surgery so she can move around normally. :1118:

Update.

I just finished moving Rossi from the vet to the overnight emergency clinic that will monitor and keep her on an IV for pain meds.

The doctor said that the surgery went really well. Her ACL was indeed torn. They performed the TPLO. He examined her meniscus and said it was in excellent shape, which is good. She said that her joints looked good otherwise and she should recover nicely.

I'll pick her up from the emergency care tomorrow morning and will let you guys know how she's doing. :1118:

Update:

I took Rossi home yesterday morning. She was groggy but seems to have puppy spirit. It's hard to keep her to toe touching on that leg, but its essential to keep the screws from backing out. It's gonna be a long road to recovery for her (the 2nd surgery is in 8 weeks) but so far, so good. We have her blocked off in a small area of the dining room and I'll be sleeping down there with her until she is well enough to come back upstairs and sleep in the bedroom with us.

Now only if dad could get some sleep. LOL

Thanks everyone for the thoughts...

Nice update Nico. It's tough when you have to see a pet suffer through all of that. At least the prognosis looks good!

Some Rossi Post-Op Pics. This is just over 3 weeks since her first surgery and the next one in 5 weeks. She seems to be moving around better but we wont know anything till the 8 week mark when they take x-rays and see how the plate/screws are doing.

Not very pleased about being confined to a 6x6 room when we are home.

It was a torn ACL to both knees Mike. That was surgery #1. Surgery #2 is in 5 weeks.

good to see that nowadays we CAN fix our best friends even if it cost a bundle! I gotta save up for Haga's ball chop since one is nondecending and inside, they gotta cut him open :(
