So, im thinking of ditching comcast....right now when i speed test my internet it says

11,900-13,000kpbs and 1500-1600kbps

I assume down/upload speeds..

SO Verizon FIOS offers two set ups..

1. 5mbps/2mbps

or

2. 15mbps/2mbps

So if i feel my current comcast home is not bad...which Verizon FIOS do i need???

Do the 15/2 it's only $10 more a month. Those aren't bad speeds for your comcast, but I have had FIOS for a year now and absolutely love it! Got the FIOS TV installed with all channels +HD. Monthly bill (includes phone) is $130 a month. Not bad. The 15/2 is supposed to be bumped to 20/5 sometime end of this year, with same price scheme for those that already have the 15/2.

+1

Although you won't EVER get 15 megs up or down, the bump up in speed will be noticable more when downloading large files (i.e. all your porn). The real benefit will be from not having to share the total bandwidth of the Central Office with all of the other DSL users in the Pearl.

Wait. I thought all your computer problems were solved

What package did you get with FIOS TV? Mine is set to get installed next week and was just curious.

Went with all channels + dvr so movies and sports, premium movies, and HD. I was going to cancel my home phone since never use it, but they said if you keep it we'll knock $25 off your total bill. They are still working out some of the "newness" kicks, but it has a great picture. No HD on demand yet, that is scheduled for sometime this spring, also your 1st couple days will be slow on the menu/guide aspects. It downloads all the information the 1st time you go in each screen. So basically got FIOS internet 15/2, TV + HD, movies, sports, premium, and unlimited phone for $130. GOing to be switching to verizon cell next month which will bump bill to about $160 for family plan. They have some amazing deals going on if you bundle everything.

Eric, ive got the 15/2 as well as the tv now.... they both kick ass! Similar to the whole "D" -vs- "P" debate, there is no comparison to brand "D" or rather Verizon fios!

Good to hear. It only took what? 8 months or so to get it right..... :D

Of all the broadband services in our general area (Beaverton), Verizon FIOS is the best and I've tried all the others. The only issue would be if they haven't run the fiber in your area yet. That can take some time.

Right now with FIOS phone and internet, I'm paying about 70 a month + 120 for DirecTV. Although pricing it out with FIOS TV it works to be about the same (all channels with HBO, sports and movies). The added benefit of HD channels (extra charge with DirecTV), On demand and getting DVRs makes it a no brainer.

call verizon and act like you are going to cancel the phone and they'll give you a $25 month off. Also they will give you good deals on the tv as well. I switched from directv as well, was about $88 a month before for the tv with no HD and all chanelles (that includes the taxes) now the tv portion is ~$40 (includes taxes and HD). It didn't give me the good prices online, but when i called in I basically negotiated with them.

Dude you have to get verizon. Mine is getting installed in 2 weeks. Tv, 15/2, and all of movie channels, dvr and 2 regular boxes , home phone w/ free long distance for 160. Bye bye comcast less prem channels, and 8 meg downloads for 35 dollars less
