Belly.....whats the REAL deal with the Ohlins TTX..honestly..lets fucking hear it? Personally i like both Penske and Ohlins and yet i trust you and dave and ben with your suggestions...

So alot of folks ask us..."how come the TTX is so expensive" or "why do some guys demand we use them"

They good? bad? a little of both? explain..

This is what Josh Hayes had to say about it over on the WERA forum back in May. Honestly, I talked to Ross a bunch and I'm following his advice. *shrug*

I already picked up a TTX shock and Barry is going to set me up with the 25mm Ohlins front end for me. :D

That + an EDR motor I better finish well this year or I just suck!

I have to say that I DO recommend the TTX Ohlins. There was a problem with them that has been fixed. The early ones were released with a small issue that has been rectified. The nice thing about the TTX is it is new technology, smaller, lighter, and has the adjusters got more simple with just a comp and reb knob and preload adjuster. I think that if you looked around the AMA paddock, most teams are using this equipment. There IS a reason. As far as I know, Ohlins sponsors NO ONE free stuff. Everyone pays. They may get a deal, but everyone pays. I bought them for mine and Melissa's bikes. I recommend the Ohlins fork kits also. I just think it is the only way to go. If you are going to do it, you might as well do it right....

we are picking up Josh's CBR600RR (ok, its his g/f's) and it has the TTX and Ohlins 25mm kit in the fork for "a customer" and im sure it will end up at KFG for sure! Again, im more a motor guy and i have ran both, but love the look and adjusters but i hear both pos and neg on them..

Ohlins products used in the AMA pits are custom built by Ohlins for individual riders. Ohlins products sold to the rest of us are 'off the shelf' using Ohlins USA specs.
Penske is the only company that will do custom valving on their standard production shocks.

The new TTX is supposed to be better this year, but I have not seen one yet.
Just know Ohlins just had 5% increase on retail price on all products

Maybe you should talk to Eli Edwards, WMRRA #1 plate holder and OMRRA #1 plate holder Alan Schmidt. Both run GP Suspension fork kits and Penske shocks. I like Ohlins, they make great stuff, is it better? I don't believe that to be true at the moment. I have talked to a bunch of people about the TTX up and down the coast and have had mixed reviews so far. Ross liked his Ohlins stuff and set a couple of track records this year. Eli did the same in his classes. Ross did not have anything for Eli (GP/Penske) in 750. I did notice that Ross went fast on his 1000, which I mainly attribute to his riding skills and the fact that the new GSXR is a great bike.

Sully had the TTX on his R1 but did not seem to help his case against Ross and the GSXR1000. I actually take Todd Horn as an example, he dumped his GP Suspension fork kit and Penske shocks to go to Ohlins. Todd did not go any faster, and I think he was even slower on the Ohlins stuff. Mark Gulin tried Todd's (Ohlins) 750 and said he liked his R6 better, which was set up with a Penske shock and GP fork kit.

Like I said, not convinced that the Ohlins product is going to magically make anybody faster. I do know that the guys who have won the WMRRA/OMRRA #1 plate in the last 10 years have been using Penske shocks, GP Suspension products.

Lastly, Dan Wilson Shattered the PIR track record and he was running GP Suspension fork kit and Penske shock, Just my two cents...

i hear both pos and neg on them..

What were the con's? Proper set up is more difficult with Ohlins imo, because the adjustments are smaller (i.e. there are more "clicks" available so one click equals less adjustment). So going straight from one to another is not always apples to apples comparison. I'm not saying either is better, just an observation.

The suspension parts don't mean dick if you don't know how to set it up. Barry in your pocket is worth more than anything else.
