I just picked up 86 Honda spree for a pit bike and I have a question about 2 strokes.

The owner of the scooter said that he thought the Oil injector didn't work so he added oil into the gas tank to make sure he didn't blow the engine. The bike started and ran with no real problems. I got it home and started going over the bike and getting ready to switch out all the fluids. I noticed that the Oil injector line has oil in it going into the carbs. Since the Gas tank had Oil in it I unhooked the Oil Injector hose from the Carbs and started the engine. There was a small amount of oil dripping (slowly and not steady) when the motor was running.

My question is this, how much oil should be coming out of this hose? if some oil is coming out should I not worry about adding oil into the gas when I refill the tank? Any other important 2 stroke fun facts would be welcome.

Thank you in advance

Lets look at it this way, if he has been mixing for awhile and there is still oil in the injector tank, it probably isn't working properly. Since it's an 86 and you just want a pit bike. If you don't know how to service or repair the injector it would be easier to fully disable the injector system and add oil to the gas. That way you would be sure not to put your faith in an old system that could damage the engine if it operates inconsistently. Mixing is not that big of an issue unless you are going to put a lot of miles on it in a short period of time. For what you are using it for, your mix ratio would probably be something like 32/1 or 36/1. Good Luck.

My thought was to just bypass the whole system as well. I wanted to post up as I don't have any real experience with 2 strokes and didn't know what should be happening.

Who knows, maybe this winter I will get a dumb idea to try and repair it. Doesn't look to hard but that's how all projects start.

Thanks for the reply Dirtbag
