Below is an E-mail I revived from Cascade Track Time; I am currently signed up for the 2Fast ORP weekend after next. The message below struck me as odd, over the past months I have heard nothing but positive feedback. If memory serves correct Mr. Pat noted on this forum he met with the owners and/or track rep’s, as a reader it sounded like a standup organization. Did anyone ride the last CTT day at ORP and would like to share feedback.

Dear Chase Major,

Oregon Raceway Park has a very challenging and fun layout. We are very fortunate to have another facility in Oregon where we can ride. The elevation changes with some blind entries and blind exits sure do add to the excitement and fun factor.

April 25th we learned alot about the ORP facility. Even though the layout is fun and challenging, the facility is very much a work in progress. Mostly these things are comfort and convenience items that we can do without during this construction period. One thing that we simply cannot do without is adequate safety and communications.

The reason for this cancellation is that the communications system used for the turn workers did not work very well. The turn workers had an extremely difficult time communicating even before the wind came up. Once the wind came up, communications were nearly non-existent. I have asked the track to provide a date when a proper communications system could be installed. As of today (May 5th) I have yet to receive word from ORP management regarding the system that will be available for our next event. June 6th is just over one month away and this should be plenty of time for an adequate communications system to be installed and operational.

It is possible that we will be adding a make up date later in the calendar. Those of you who were prepaid and preregistered for the event, your reservations have been moved directly to the June 6th event. If this does not work for you, please contact me and include your reservation number.

As soon as I know something I will inform everyone. I apologize for the May 9th event cancellation. Safety is #1. It is a small hurdle, but should be one that can be resolved quickly.

The third paragraph spells out the reason for the cancellation. The track is very raw right now. Basically just a track with a small paved area for the pits. From what I understand the management team for the track is very good. I talked to one of owners at the CCT day and he was telling me about the curbing, power, turn stations etc... They will get the coms working at some point, hopefully before the next CCT day. It's a fun track and I can't wait to ride it again.

No reliable communications is a HUGE issue and not only a serious safety concern but also a HUGE liability issue.

I don't disagree with his decision.
