This is a two part question. First, does the fitting of a DP ECU allow the removal of the O2 module and exhaust/set valve motor completely (not just removing the cables) without triggering FI light(s) on the dash? Second, will the DP ECU allow complete tuning of the fuel curve with a PCV (below 5000 rpm or 19% throttle)? Oh one more ED, what is your opinion on the ducati ECU remap kit? I've heard once a stock ECU is remapped its just as good as a 1200.00 DP ECU...
My plan is to add a akra full system with bmc filter, remap my stock ECU with a remap module from motowheels. combine it with a PCV and get a custom dyno tune for my environment which happens to Colo Sprgs, CO with an altitude of 6600 ft above sea level. Lastly, I'm super OCD about my bikes so I really want a set up that will allow me to do all the above and remove unnecessary "junk" from my bike, i.e. the EXUP/SET valve motor and cables and O2 module.
P.S. I don't care if the fairing covers the set valve motor. Just knowing its there will cause me to go nutz!
thanks!

One more thing. the reason I want to remap the stock ecu is to prevent any issues with the TPS. I hear disconnecting the ECU to swap with DP or Nemesis (nemesis is cool, but over kill for me) cause TPS / fast idle issues which requires a dealer to reset the TPS. I want to do all installs myself. I don't like dealership punks touching on my bikes. Most of the guys don't show your bike any love and every time I've ever let a dealer touch/work on my bikes they come back with scratches or damage.

1. YES the DP ECU allows for no more 02 or cables/servo
2. YES once you add a DP ECU you can map it with a PC3 or PC5
3. Im not sure how/why you'd map the oem ecu. However we have OVER 20 ducati 1098/848's running around town with oem ecu's and NO mapping. Then another 8-10 with PC's on top of DP ecu's for fine tuning. A few running nemesis's ecu's as well. Most the guys in town we use the full Leo Vince system, reinstall the stock o2 in the bung on the Leo and even running on the dyno it runs fine...sure not nearly as smooth as when mapped properly (DP ecu with a PC) but it works...dealers will say it wont but they are LYING to sell you an ecu!
4. Get an Akra (we are almost NEVER beat on pricing on the Akra's! just fyi) and then a DP ECU..tune with a PC. DONT do the Motowheels module...they have more issues than help imo. FYI the Leo makes better hp than the Akra on the street..leo only getting beat by akra above 9k..however i too think the akra is PURE SEXY and would rock that on my street 1098!
Let me know, hope that helps...back to the engine room...dinner break over

Sorry Eric about the pm. I just saw this post after the fact. I'm assuming that is the same route I need to take at some point.
