That may have had something to do with the rod sticking out of the front of the cases...

I run motorex in my gsxr1000 street bike and it is good, I sometimes notice some cluctch grabing when I slip the clutch too much along with a slight vibration and noise no shifting issues however.
I run silkolene in my race bikes as to see which I prefer and to tell you the truth I am a huge fan of the silkolene so there you have it.

That so wasn't the problem on that engine. :)

IMO..they all are pretty good nowadays.. stuff i have used and seen perform good in the engine room (after teardown)

Redline Race 20wt to 40wt
Castrol R4
Silkolene Pro4
Motorex Power Synth
Repsol
Motul 300v

My current fav from testing and also wear has been the Motul 300v. I love this stuff! Its bit cleaner than the Redline race, and tends to hold up to heat better. I recommend the 300v in 5w30 or 5w40 in the under 750 bikes and 10w40 in the 1000's...thou the 5w40 has been working well for us insome 1000's.

XXXXX has some "special" stuff we might try... 0w10 wieght..honestly. its qualifying oil. We used similar stuff in past and in a 600 was worth 2-4 MORE hp than std good sythn. oil..but must be changed almost every lap...lol

Um, before we get carried away here let's make sure Adam was asking about using the motor oil for his bike. I've seen this backwoods North Carolina redneck doing some pretty scary things with his greasy hands while standing in the pits. What was even scarier was that he was staring directly at Barry while handling his "throttle" with his greasy hands.

OK Acy... speaking of scary things... WTF is FUJOL oil???
Sounds like it should be used in a Bangkok hooker before a motorcycle!!!

Amsoil is actually one of my sponsors but Eric said he would spank me if I used it even once so I was forced to switch to the generic brand of Fujol that Eric will be supplying me.

I've always used Redline Race 30 or 40 and have had NO problems. Eric doesn't complain when he rebuilds the motors, so I guess I'm doing alright!

Ed Who?

beer gut is right, he uses good oil, same as DPW's choice. its fine. yes a bit "dirty" due to NO degergents in their race line and also high zinc (metal protection) but it works great. I think lately im liking motul 300v better just because it really is amazing how "clean" the motors are internally with it after a season.

Mike, i would join BOTH clubs because 1. helps out both clubs. 2. feel apart of each 3. have a chance to gain points/contingency and 4. get to put your $.02 in on voting and such.

We were lucky enough to be introduced to the ELF HTX (edit) series of oils. It is the real MotoGP oil. You would know if you have seen it as it has no descriptive label as to what it is and has no UPC/Bar Code on the bottles or boxes.

Eric can attest to how clean the Metrakit was last year running this stuff exclusively. "Are you sure the hours are up? This thing looks brand new." - Eric Dorn what he really meant to say was... "WTF are you having me do this for?!?!?! The motor doesn't need to be touched."

If you didn't know, ELF is the base product supplier for brands like Maxima, Motul, etc.

HTX 3825 is the 0w20 and 3818 is the 5w30 Both are meant for about 20laps MAX and both are about $175/gallon but you MUST change it out VERY often..

better yet is their F1 grease. it is 1 litre and OVER $1,900 US! NO SHIT! They have a 250GP 2stroke oil that a lot of top teams use and its only $900 PER LITRE!!!!!!!!

Maxima!! I have used it for years and my engines have always looked great and I have had no issues. Cleaner than most and comparable to Motul in my opinion. You can get an 0x, 5x, 10x depending on your choices and their fork oil and gear oils seem to work great as well.

Racer support friendly and great customer service.

Here I use Repsol race 4T 5-40 mixed with the 10-50, good results. in my gsxr1000K6
Used motorex full syn with excelent results. but they dont bring it no more here.

Repsol here is cheapest of all, and very clean.

Some of the guys here swear by the motul 300V 24h 15-60. but that is honey compared to a 5-40. for me 2 heavy for a modern bike.

Ed what motul you are using.?

Ed Who?
01-05-2008, 07:35 PM
repsol is good oil, just not popular. we carried it, but sales were shit, so we stuck with what was selling and we like, we stock/sell

Motul
3000
5100
300v

Castrol
AcTevo
GPS
R4

Motorex
Power Synth

Redline
street
race

Elf
PowerST4
HTX (soon)

as for motul, we stock 300v in 5w30, 5w40, and 10w40. The smaller bikes the lighter stuff is great, the 1000+ bikes we use the 10w40

yeah, oil and tires are internet forum taboo. i say Forum oil opinions are like butt holes...everyone has one and most stink... lol.

If you have used it and had good luck, then by all means. I just dont like the stuff...seen bad things years ago. in all fairness not seen/used for many years.

We ran it in pocketbikes without issue. Of course Ben was making sure those things ran like clockwork anyway... always new rings the night before the big days.
