What does a reworked/modified master cylinder imply? As in what kind of work is done to it? Does it help much with the typical Suzuki brake fade?

There's no fade on the 06/07 stock m/c. I came from the 04/05 where it was ridiculous. The 06/07 never fades on me ever during a race.

You're doing it wrong. :)

Your m/c or calipers need to be rebuilt likely. I just rebuilt my calipers because of a twisted seal I found. No brake drag now. :D

your right Nico, it's not fade, they just suck all the time. I screwed around with my brakes all season long and they were never good. I heard one time that 1 out 7 master cylinders actually work properly and the factory teams just have a box full of them and swapping them out until they get a good one. It has something to do with the manfucaturing tolerances. If I could only put a set of stock R6 brakes on my GSXR and still be SS legal I would be a happy man.

ROFL Nico, they work GREAT IN THE PITS! ROFL

Seriously the OEM GSXR750/600 m/cylinders are CRAP! I wish we could use aftermarket ones, since they are cheaper, and work better!

The AMA teams do that Suitor, i know the one TOP privateer team put on new master every weekend, then bled. Not sure if that worked, but seems to show they have issues with them.

Well maybe my opinion is biased because I had to race on an 05 M/C and the 06 M/C was a dream compared to it.. :D

It could be that.. Or it could be that you don't actually have to brake hard at the speed you go....... LOL

J/K man, You just make it so easy..........

Mine has always sucked. From brand new off the showroom.

Lever goes completely back to the bar, freshly bled, end of a race, whatever.

Made me learn some new entry speeds though!

Nico I think you got 1 out of 7 unit. Mine is definitely a 6 out of 7. :(

Mine always faded, but I do think the '06/'07's were better. No idea what they might mean by a 'reworked' m/c

I've got an 08 the brakes suck baaaaaalllllzzz. Fades after after 6 or 7 laps at PIR, even faster at my local point and squirt track. I've tried everything except getting a brembo mc.

The best solution I've found is cleaning the calipers (the pistons) after every weekend. It's annoying, but it's the only thing that seems to help for me. Seem to stops the brakes from dragging so much so they stay a little cooler.

My lever faded every race, but my braking force was consistant every lap. I was at Miller crying to Sully about how my lever fades and starts to get squishy, just flat being a baby and he told me....if it stops,it stops, who cares how the shit Suzuki lever feels.....after that I realized he just called me a pussy and to quit thinking about stupid shit and ride it hard! Never thought about it again.

I have found that the vortex levers work really well with those MC's because they have quite a bit of adjustment... just dial the lever out until it gets firm where you want it to!!!

or, just don't brake so much :)

Just get used to it. Nothing else you can do.

I ended up replacing the brake fluid A LOT!! and bleeding the brakes every day (literally), even a couple times during the day.

hey Eric, are the 08/09 master cylinders any better then the 06/07?

How about the 01 02 masters? I think that's going to be the hardest part of my "new" chassis setup. Last year I ran a Brembo with R1 calipers, this year 02 stock master and six piston Tokicos, yikes! :O

Those are even worse John.. Why no Brembo on that beast this year?

to be honest, i'd take the 01-02 set up over the 06+ setup! the newer 06+ calipers are the problem as well imo...total JUNK! Suzuki needs to be like Yamaha, then Kawi, and now Honda...>MONO BLOCK ONE PIECE CALIPERS!!

it seems some of the guys on the wera board are having some success with that castrol stuff. To bad it is $70 a liter.

I'm rebuilding on a SS legal 01 gsxr 1K chassis. I know it's not as cool as a 08 CBR 1000 but it's the bike I own and I'll be able to run it in SS, FUltra, and Early HW GP. Current economic conditions make me thankful for what I've got.

I believe the '09 Gix 1k finally has 'em!

And speaking of calipers - Ed do you know which model's pistons will fit the '06/07 calipers? I keep hearing of people replacing the aluminum pistons with steel ones from a different model.
