View Full Version : Brake Bleeding Secrets?

Honestly if I had the money I would just bring her in, but its a miracle I could even swing this upcoming trackday.

When I installed the Galfer SS lines, I used RBF-600 fluid and lever was ROCK SOLID

Since then, the lever has gotten quite squishy. I bled the system just like I did when I first installed the lines but the lever feel didnt improve.

Are there any secrets to making sure all the air is out?

I dont have any fancy speed bleeders or mighty-vac, just a wrench and a good bleeding hose.

Ive heard of the zip-tie trick overnight, I assume its done with the resevoir cap ON (otherwise wouldnt the fluid absorb moisture if left open overnight?)

I still have some fluid left that I kept in the sealed conatiner, wrapped in a zip-lock bag and ducktaped around the edges of the bag. Is it re-useable or should I just buy a new bottle?

Thanks for any tips

Is there any truth to SS lines having a "habit" of retaining air bubbles more often during manual bleeding (i.e. non Speed-Bleeders...)?

+1 eric, same here. call me OCD, but I just feel better taking the time to bleed them by hand.
I only asked since "I heard" (don't remember where??) that SS lines were more likely to retain air than OEM ones, so using a speed bleeder is especially recommended on SS lines.....Didn't know if there was any truth to that so I figured I'd ask....
Still have got to order the damn lines and *trick!* Rizoma fluid reservoir, though
