I've always heard to drain lubricants hot. I suppose the idea is that any particles are suspended at that point and that hot oil drains faster than cold. But is this just splitting hairs? Say you pull the plug on a cold crankcase before bed and refill in the morning. Seems like sufficient lube has come out to accomplish the task. Plus you don't get those nasty burns when you bump the header.
Thoughts?

Well, as karma would have it, the tech guy in Cycle Magazine addressed this very point in a current issue of the publication. He says to do it hot.
Great in principle if you have two hours. You see, to get the oil warm you have to ride. And since you have to ride, you may as well go someplace. And going someplace requires a stop at a friends house and maybe a coffee drink. Sort of a "Give a Mouse a Cookie" type of deal.
