Got an 03 zx-9r that hasnt run for a couple years. Finally got the bike running and had some carb issues.

Ran like crap for the first day, the second day ran fine, third day ran fine, fourth day almost broke down on the hwy on the way to work bike sounds like it is running out of gas (but plenty of fuel) throttle was real jumpy and sounded like it was gonna die.

The more I shifted through the gears the less it sounded like it was gonna die limped it to procaliber (only choice I had at the at the time) I left it there all day when I went to pick it up the battery was dead. Jumped it and got about three miles from the shop and it completely died at a stop light, at that point had absolutly no power whatsoever.

Sunday went and bought a new battery new plugs and cleaned the carb the best I could (did not disassemble the carb) ran it and still ran like crap.

Out of ideas. Not mechaniclly proficient. Did I mention I am out of ideas. I did wire the side mount turns myself wondering if that could be the elec issues.

you have to fully remove and disassemble carbs to clean correctly. Sounds like a pilot jet is plugged. Also, the fuel pumps are KNOWN for dying on them (for some reason, when they sit makes worse) also check you ram air intake system...its VERY critical on the older ram air zx6/7/9's. If you like, you can bring it to us at EDR Performance...but im biased ;)
