Stupid me had to monkey with the cable adjuster on the clutch handle because there was a lot of play in the handle. So now it doesn't release until its almost out and its really uncomfortable... Any ideas? It's almost to the point that I don't its normal. I have the adjust about 3 quarters of the way out right now, if I turn it all the way in the clutch won't engaged. Before I monkeyed with it, I think it was about 3 quarters of the way in. I am pretty new to bikes so layman's terms would be much appreciated. I am probably wrong with the terms I used. But I think you get the idea. Thanks

By any chance, do you live in the Beaverton area?

tighten up the adjustment. The less "slack" you have in it, the further out it will engage. Just loosen the lock nut (the bigger wheel looking thing) and then turn the adjuster (smaller wheel looking thing) OUT and keep the "slack" (free play) about 1/4"...then tighten the lock nut (bigger wheel thing)
or bring by shop and we'll do it for ya in about 7.2 seconds :D

Haha, I am loving the terms. lol I did play with adjusters (lock out and little one). If I pull it out, there is less play in the clutch lever which the clutch engages at a later time (it seems too late, almost at the end) and if twist them them in it does not engage everytime. and I can't find a happy medium. While we are the subject of bringing it in, how much are new tires and oil change, reg maintenance (its got about 4500 miles on now). Gosh I put almost 3000 since September. Its gotta be the greatest thing I have ever bought, well actually my girlfriend :) Shes a keeper lol

Hey Eric,
First off thanks for the tune up, it might just be in my head since I am pretty new and probably can't tell the difference, but it seems like my bike is running smoother. But with the clutch, there is a ton of looseness (extra play) with the clutch. A lot actually. I take this is normal since I am sure you would have fixed but I just want to know to make myself feel better. Thanks and merry christmas.

red there is too much play cause u asked for it to engage very early. Personally I tighten up the slack more. I would highly recommend an adjustable clutch lever like CRG or Pazzo. Keeps adjustment perfect but allows u to adjust for smaller hands

Awesome, that is what I might use my x mas money on. Its not that I have smaller hands, I just like it to engage earlier, it keeps me from revving it too much when I shift, I am just used to it that way. But you think new levers will help. Should I tighten it up so there is not so much play, and just get used to it?
